What were Peter and the apostles confronting the Jewish people with in Acts 5?

Peter and the apostles confronted the Jewish people with the fact that the One they crucified was their Messiah, and that the God of their fathers raised up Jesus, whom they slew and hanged on a tree. They declared they ought to obey God rather than men.

Les explains that in Acts 5 Peter was still holding forth with the eleven, and they were still dealing primarily with the Jewish people. They kept confronting them with the fact that the One who was crucified was their Messiah. Peter and the other apostles answered that they ought to obey God rather than men, and they proclaimed that the God of their fathers raised up Jesus, whom they slew and hanged on a tree.
