What did Jesus do with the bread at the last supper and what did He say about it?

At the last supper, Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to the disciples. He said, "Take eat, this is My body." He also called it His body broken for them, but gave no further doctrinal exposition on the bread.

Les explains that this scene is the last supper, eaten before the Passover lambs were killed, so it is not the Passover lamb itself. Jesus sat down with the twelve and reclined as they ate. As they were eating, He took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take eat, this is My body." Les then notes that Jesus took the cup, gave thanks, gave it to them, and said, "Drink all of it, for this is My blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Jesus also said He would not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine until that day when He drinks it new with them in His Father's Kingdom. After singing the hymn, they went out. Les asks why he read this: does Jesus give any doctrinal exposition on the bread and wine? Not a word. All He says is, "this is My body which is broken for you," and "this is the blood of the New Testament which is shed for you." There is no explanation and no instructions on how to practice it from that point on. Les then turns back to Genesis chapter 14.
