What is the main point of 1 Corinthians 10?

The main point centers on doing everything—eating, drinking, or any action—for the glory of God. Even ordinary, mundane experiences should be done as unto the Lord. Paul also admonishes believers to give no offense to Jews, Gentiles, or the church, setting aside anything that causes a weaker believer to stumble.

Les explains that the crux of the whole matter is verse 31: whether you eat, drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. That principle carries into every aspect of life, not just meat offered to idols. Anything that causes a weaker believer to stumble should be set aside. Les notes that we run across such things constantly. The only reason believers are left here is to bring glory to His Name, even in mundane things that seem not to count. Verse 32 adds another admonition that fits today as it did in Paul's day: give no offense to the Jew, the Gentile, or the house of God. Les points out this divides the population into three categories, because the Jew was still a factor when Paul wrote the Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
