How does 1 Corinthians 10:12 apply to us personally?

First Corinthians 10:12 warns every believer personally: if you think you stand securely, take heed lest you fall. The wilderness failures of Israel were written for our admonition, so no one should become puffed up or claim such sin could never happen to them. We are all candidates for falling as Israel did.

Les explains that 1 Corinthians 10:12 is a verse that is so apropos for every one of us. He says every one of us are candidates for falling as Israel did, so none of us can get puffed up and say, “Well, that would never happen to me.” Oh, yes, it can. Les connects this to verse 11, where it says all these things happened to the Israelites in the wilderness as four examples and were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the age are come. We are supposed to learn from them. He also notes that repetition in Scripture is there for a distinct purpose, and verse 10 warned against murmuring, as some of them murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer.
