What do missionaries learn about living in a foreign field?
Missionaries learn in the foreign field that they have to live like the people amongst whom they are working. They cannot suddenly come in and live with Western culture, Western habits, and Western food, because if they did, they would never touch anybody.
Les explains that missionaries quickly learn one thing when they enter a foreign field: they must live like the people among whom they work. They cannot just arrive and live with Western culture, Western habits, and Western food, because then they would never touch anybody. This matches Paul’s principle of becoming all things to all men so that he might save some.
1 Corinthians 9:22
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
