Why didn't the Corinthian believers have the knowledge Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 8:7?
The Corinthian believers lacked that knowledge because they were still babes in Christ. They had not yet gained full comprehension of who and what God really is. The text says not every man had this knowledge, and their immaturity kept them from understanding fully.
Les explains that in verse 7 Paul writes, "Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge." The Corinthian believers were saved, but they were still babes in Christ and did not have the full comprehension of who and what God really is. Les compares them to many believers today who are saved yet remain babes in Christ and have no comprehension of who God really is. Even those who have been Christians a long time find such things beyond them, and Les says that except for his faith in the Word, he would not believe it.
Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
