Les Feldick Bible Study

What percentage of people in history were educated enough to run a business or profession?

Only a very small percentage were educated enough to run a business or profession; the vast majority of people in history were totally illiterate and incapable of decision making, so few could carry on an enterprise, profession, or business sufficient to make a good living.

Les explains that when you analyze the greatest period of human history, the percentage of people educated enough to be an entrepreneur or to carry on a profession or business enough to make a good living was not very many. The vast majority were totally illiterate and totally incapable of decision making. He compares this to Russia after 70 years of Communism. Under those circumstances, a benevolent master was the best thing those people could have. He also notes that when slavery was holding forth in the South, there were masters like that, and those slaves loved them, having it better than they could have hoped to have on their own. Man has totally adulterated God's way.
