How is sex like fire under God's control?

Sex resembles fire under God's control because, when properly contained within God-mandated boundaries, it is glorious and a blessing, like a warming fireplace or a steel mill's fire. Released from those controls, it becomes destructive, causing tragedy, ruined lives, families, and marriages.

Les teaches that fire under control is one of the greatest things God has given mankind: it warms the home, makes a glowing fireplace or wood heater enjoyable on a cold winter day, and is an absolute necessity in everyday life and in producing steel. Fire turned loose, however, brings devastation, tragedy, and destruction. Les applies this directly to sex: under the controls God mandated, sex is just as glorious as fire in the fireplace, but when turned loose as the world has done, it becomes tragedy, ruined lives, ruined families, and ruined marriages because of misappropriating God’s gift of sex. This follows his mention of verse 18, that fornication sins against one’s own body.
