How did the Corinthians' knowledge of Scripture compare to people today?

The Corinthians had no prior knowledge of Scripture, while people today often have at least some exposure through Sunday school, catechism, or general Bible teaching. Those Corinthians knew nothing of Adam, Abraham, Moses, or the Law; they were pagan idol worshipers with no background in the things of God.

Les explains that a good percentage of people today have had at least some exposure to the Scriptures, perhaps through Sunday school as children or through denominational catechism. The Corinthians, however, had none. They knew absolutely nothing of the things of God—nothing of Adam, Abraham, Moses, or the Law. They were pagan idol worshipers, and Les even recalls the ruins of Corinth and a temple to the goddesses high on a cliff.

1 Corinthians 6:11

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
