Were the Israelites afraid of the death angel on Passover night, and why or why not?

They were not afraid, not if they were people of faith, because the blood of the sacrificial lamb was placed on the doorposts and lintel. The blood marked them as covered, so they had nothing to fear from the death angel and were secure rather than quivering.

Les explains that as Israel huddled in their small huts in Egypt, at midnight the death angel was going to go over Egypt and kill every firstborn male. Were they in fear of the death angel? No, not if they were people of faith, because the blood was on the door, and they had absolutely nothing to fear. They did not stand quivering in their boots; they were secure, knowing the blood was on the door and they were covered. Les then connects this to the church age through Paul: even as our Passover, when Christ died on the Roman cross, His blood was shed, and when we come under that blood, we are passed over from any judgment.

Exodus 12:13

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
