What moved upon the face of the deep in Genesis 1:2?

In Genesis 1:2, after the earth was covered with water, the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep. This demonstrates the Holy Spirit's omnipresent role on the planet, as He has always been God's omnipresent presence and remains so.

Les explains that the Holy Spirit has always been the omnipresent of God on the planet. He directs listeners back to Genesis chapter 1, specifically after the deluge of verse 2 when everything is under water, asking what moved upon the face of the deep. The answer is the Spirit. All through the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was evident, otherwise nobody could ever have a knowledge of God. However, He did not indwell Old Testament believers as He does today. Similarly, during the tribulation, His indwelling role will end, but He will remain on the earth as the omnipresent Spirit of God so that people can still be saved. Every believer now, in this age of grace, is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:2

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
