Who is it that comes to indwell the believer?

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, comes to indwell the believer. At the moment a person believes, the Spirit enters and makes the body His temple. This indwelling explains why God knows every thought, every place, and everything done, because He is present within the believer.

Les explains that every believer, the moment he believes, is indwelt by the Spirit. He warns young people not to think they can check God at the door when going to an ungodly place, because they take Him wherever they go. This body is the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and He comes the moment we believe. Les points to Ephesians 1 and the question, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" He says that is plain language; you don't have to be a theologian to understand it. The third person of the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit—comes and indwells the believer. That is why God can know every thought, every place, and everything we do, because He is here. Les then uses Solomon's temple as a fore view: when the temple was complete and dedicated, the presence of God in the Shekinah glory came down into that temple at Jerusalem. That foreshadowed this age of grace, where when God saves an individual, He immediately becomes a temple, a dwelling place, and just as the Shekinah glory came into Solomon's temple, the Holy Spirit comes into us.
