Les Feldick Bible Study

Do you have to work to get saved?

No. Salvation is not something people have to attain, work for, or grasp at. It is placed right in front of every human being and is attainable to anyone. It rests on what Christ accomplished, not on what we do. The only difference now is that there must be an exercise of the will.

Les teaches that if God required people to swim a raging river or climb a high mountain to appropriate salvation, that would be different, but He does not. Instead, God lays salvation right out in front of every human being. Using John chapter 10, Les illustrates the door to the sheepfold as being at ground level, not on a cliff or across the ocean, so anybody can walk through it. Salvation is therefore not something people must attain, work for, or grasp at. It is right in front of every human being. The contrast is between Adam, the federal head who plunged the human race into condemnation, and the second Adam, Christ, who accomplished everything necessary to bring fallen man back to Himself. The difference now is that there has to be an exercise of the will.
