Why does the world reject the claim that salvation is only through Jesus Christ?

The world rejects salvation through Christ alone because it is exclusivist, insisting there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. Christ crucified, buried, and risen from the dead is the only secure foundation, and worldly wisdom knows nothing of God's wisdom.

Les explains that Paul, as a wise master builder, laid the foundation, which is Christ crucified, buried, and risen from the dead. Throughout the early chapters, wisdom is the key word: God's wisdom is set over against the wisdom of this world, and the wisdom of this world knows nothing of God's wisdom. Just as a building with a rotten foundation will soon be rotten, so faith must rest on the solid, secure foundation of Christ. Without that foundation, people are hopelessly lost. The world cannot accept this, calling it exclusivism, but it is exclusivist because there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved. Salvation is Jesus Christ plus nothing, by faith in His finished work.

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
