Where did Apollos go before he came to Corinth?

Before coming to Corinth, Apollos went first to Ephesus, located across the Aegean Sea on the western shore of Turkey. He did not come to the Corinthian church immediately. Acts 18:24 records his arrival there, and he is described as an eloquent Jewish man born in Alexandria, Egypt.

Les explains that Apollos does not come to the Corinthian church immediately. Instead, he comes first to Ephesus, which is across the Aegean Sea on the western shore of Turkey. In Acts chapter 18, verse 24, Apollos is introduced as a certain Jew named Apollos, born in Alexandria in Egypt, where there was a seminary of sorts. That is where the Septuagint originated, when Jewish scholars translated the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek around 300 years before Christ. Les notes that Apollos came out of that same area of intellectual Hebrews and was an eloquent man, with outward appearances of someone magnetic who could hold a crowd, likely handsome and well dressed, and with the gift of oratory that could spellbind people with his speech.

Acts 18:24

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
