Are there plaques in Athens honoring Aristotle, Plato, or Homer?
No plaques in Athens honoring Aristotle, Plato, or Homer were observed at Mars Hill. Instead, a large bronze plaque is dedicated to the Apostle Paul, called the babbler, and tourists are constantly reminded of him rather than the Greek philosophers.
Les explains that when he and his companions were at Athens and went up to Mars Hill, the first thing that struck him was the absence of a big bronze plaque saying, "This is what Aristotle said," "This is what Plato wrote," or "This is the place where Homer held forth." Instead, the big bronze plaque is dedicated to the Apostle Paul, the babbler. Les finds it amazing that Paul the babbler is still held in high esteem, and tourists coming to Athens are constantly reminded of this man, not the philosophers of the Greeks.
