What kind of death have all people died because of sin?
Because all people—Jew and Gentile, rich and poor—have sinned by disobeying God’s revealed will, they have died spiritually. This spiritual death is the consequence of sin, though humanity will also experience physical death. Scripture concludes that every person is guilty, and all have sinned.
Les explains that Romans 3:9-23 concludes that all Jews and Gentiles, black and white, rich and poor, have sinned. Sin is not limited to the adulterer or drunkard alone; it is anyone who has disobeyed the revealed will of God. Paul says all have done that. Therefore, all have died spiritually, although they are also going to die physically. Les then directs attention to II Corinthians chapter 5, verses 14-15, in this same discussion of sin and death.
