Les Feldick Bible Study

Where did Paul go to receive his revelations, and what Old Testament parallel does it have?

Paul went not to Jerusalem to consult the apostles, but into Arabia—likely Mount Sinai—to receive his revelations. He did not confer with flesh and blood. The Old Testament parallel is Moses, whom God also took up to Mount Sinai and there revealed the Law.

Les teaches that Paul did not go back to Jerusalem to look up Peter, James, and John or to sit under their teaching. God deliberately kept Paul separate from the Twelve so the revelations given to him would not be mixed with what the Twelve already understood. Instead, God took Paul out into Arabia, and Les thinks into Mount Sinai, where he was likely alone for three years. There the Lord revealed to him the tremendous doctrines of grace found nowhere else in the Bible. The Old Testament parallel is Moses, whom God took up to Mount Sinai and revealed the Law.

Galatians 1:17

Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
