Les Feldick Bible Study

Should I just accept what a Bible teacher says?

No. A Bible teacher should not be the final authority. The right response is to let a teacher's words whet your appetite to get into the Book, because that is where truth is found. Scripture itself is the standard, not human tradition or the next man's opinion.

Les explains that people in Christendom often hold to various ideas from the traditions they have lived in for many years, rather than being steeped in the Word. He therefore advises, 'Don't go by what I say, don't go by what the next man says,' but take his teaching to whet your appetite to get into the Book, because that's where it is. Paul was no different: he was steeped in the tradition of the fathers until God, who had separated him from his mother's womb and called him by grace, revealed His Son in him. The teacher's role is to point listeners to Scripture, not to replace their own study.
