What happens to a church when the pastor stops using gimmicks and programs and just preaches the Word?
When a pastor sets aside gimmicks and programs and simply preaches the Word, the church will once again find new life and begin to grow. This is because God has ordained preaching the Word, not gimmicks and programs, as the means for church vitality.
Les teaches that Paul did not come with oratory, smooth talk, or a big advanced team preparing him for large crusades. Instead, Paul came into the synagogue and then the busy marketplace and simply began to approach people with the preaching of the cross. Les maintains that if pastors would forget about the gimmicks, forget about programs, and just simply start preaching the Word again, they would find that their church would once again find new life and begin to grow. He says this is the way God has ordained it, for God has not ordained that we use gimmicks and programs. Paul also says he did not come with the wisdom of this world, nor the princes of this world that come to nothing.
