What would happen to a church if the pastor stopped relying on gimmicks and programs and just preached the Word?

Les teaches that if pastors would forget about the gimmicks, forget about programs, and simply start preaching the Word again, they would find that their church would once again find new life and begin to grow. He says this is the way God has ordained it, and God has not ordained that we use gimmicks and programs. The surrounding context ties this to Paul's example: he did not come with oratory, smooth talk, or a big advanced team preparing him for big crusades. Instead, he came into the synagogue and out into the marketplace and simply began to approach people with the preaching of the cross. Paul says he did not come with the wisdom of this world, nor with the princes of this world that come to nothing.
