What did Chloe report to Paul about the Corinthian assembly's growth?

Chloe sent word to the apostle that the Corinthian assembly was growing and people were probably being saved, yet she also reported serious problems: divisions and contentions among them. Members were aligning behind different leaders, some claiming loyalty to Paul and others to Apollos.

Les explains that Chloe’s house was probably where the assembly met, and she sent word to the apostle by messenger. She could report that the assembly was growing and people were probably being saved, but she also said, “We’ve got problems”—divisions and contentions. The Corinthians were dividing over men: some said, “I am of Paul,” others, “I am of Apollos.” Les warns against getting hung up on one man, because it is not scriptural. He also notes Apollos was a Jew from Alexandria, eloquent and mighty in the Scriptures, who came to Ephesus.

1 Corinthians 1:11

For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
