What kind of background were the Corinthian believers saved out of?
The Corinthian assembly was saved out of abject idolatry, paganism, mythology, and the worship of gods and goddesses. Along with that, they were grossly immoral and had no concept of what we would call biblical morality. This was the background from which they were saved.
Les explains that this assembly of believers had been saved out of abject idolatry, paganism, mythology, the worship of the gods and goddesses, and gross immorality. They had no concept of biblical morality. But as they were saved out of that background, they weren't immediately transformed into spiritual giants. They had many problems, hang-ups, and still had many failures. In spite of that, Paul teaches that if the Lord were to come, all of them would be taken, not just a few. Les also notes there are those who teach an outcalling of only the spiritual believers, with the carnal left behind.
