What kind of religious background had the Corinthian believers been saved out of?

The Corinthian believers had been saved out of abject idolatry, paganism, mythology, and the worship of gods and goddesses. Along with that religious background, they were grossly immoral, had no concept of biblical morality, and were not immediately transformed into spiritual giants.

Les explains that this assembly of believers in 1 Corinthians chapter 1 had been saved out of abject idolatry, paganism, mythology, and the worship of the gods and goddesses. Along with that background, they were grossly immoral and had no concept of biblical morality. Yet, as these people were saved out of that kind of background, they were not immediately transformed into spiritual giants. They still had many problems, hang-ups, and failures. In spite of that, Paul teaches clearly that if the Lord were to come, they would all go, not only a few spiritual believers.
