What is our comfort when we sin according to 1 John 2:1?

According to 1 John 2:1, when any believer sins, the comfort is that we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous One. This advocacy is not a license to sin, but a provision for failure, since every believer fails and faces Satan’s accusations.

Les explains that Satan accuses every time a believer sins, but 1 John 2:1 gives the believer comfort: if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous One. Les clarifies this is not licensed permission to go ahead and do those things because we know we have an advocate. Yet if we fail—and every one of us does and will—and old Satan is accusing us, that advocacy remains our comfort. Even Corinth had this as their backdrop.
