Les Feldick Bible Study

Do people become mature Christians the moment they are saved?

No. The spiritual life parallels the physical, so no one is born into God’s family as a full, mature spiritual person. Every believer enters salvation as a babe in Christ. Growth, training, and failures follow, just as an infant must mature over time.

Les teaches that the spiritual life is a parallel with the physical. Just as no one is born into the human family already mature, no one is born into the family of God a full, mature spiritual person. Everyone comes into a salvation experience as a babe in Christ. He illustrates this with an old evangelist who traveled by train and could tell which homes had little babies because diapers hung on the clothesline. In the same way, all believers begin as babes in Christ, and consequently there will be failures. As no infant comes into the world trained to go to the bathroom, infant believers also need growth and training.
