Was Phoebe a businesswoman?

She is described as probably a business lady, not stated with certainty. The epistle to the Romans was sent from Corinth to the Roman church by way of Phoebe, and the chapter commends women who helped much in the ministry, showing there is a place for the woman in the church.

Les teaches that this tremendous epistle of Romans was sent from Corinth to the Roman church by way of Phoebe. He describes her as probably a business lady, yet emphasizes that this epistle was entrusted to a woman. Throughout the chapter, he notes, women who helped much in the ministry are commended over and over, and he concludes that no one should say there is not a place for the woman in the church.
