What put Jesus on the cross?
Love put Christ on the cross. It was His love for lost mankind that set His eyes as flint to the cross; love nailed Him, and love caused God to pour out mercy at the cross. Love is the fulfilling of the law, and the cross is where love's epitome was expressed.
Les explains that love is the fulfilling of the law. He asks where the epitome of love was expressed that fulfilled the law, and answers: on the cross. He then asks what put Christ on the cross, and answers: love. It was His love for lost mankind that set His eyes as flint to the cross. It was love that nailed Him. It was love that caused God to pour out mercy at the cross. When that same love is imparted to believers, it becomes their attitude toward the people around them—even their enemies. Les then notes Paul's call to wake out of spiritual sleep, because the church today is asleep and unaware of the stage being set for the final seven years of human history.
