When and to whom was the Sabbath given?

The Sabbath was given only to the nation of Israel, long before the Law, and later incorporated into the Law. It was strictly the seventh day, a day of total rest and inactivity, not Sunday. Scripture teaches it has nothing to do with the believer today.

Les explains that the Sabbath was the seventh day, a day of rest for the nation of Israel, and it was given only to the nation of Israel long before the Law. When the Law came, the Sabbath was incorporated into it. It was never a day of sacrifices; they did not sacrifice on the Sabbath, for it was a day of total rest and inactivity. Sunday is not the Sabbath. Paul never mentions the Sabbath commandment because believers have nothing to do with it, while the other nine commandments remain part of the Christian experience.
