Where are spiritual gifts most functional, and are they limited to the local church?
Spiritual gifts are most functional within the local Body of Christ, the local church, but they are not confined to it. They can be used anywhere, anytime, and extend to the community as a whole, not just the local church.
Les teaches from Romans 12 that God has imparted gifts to every member of the Body of Christ to fulfill His purpose. He explains that a lot of these gifts are most functional within the local Body of Christ, within the local church, but that does not confine them: you can use your gift anywhere, anytime. He then moves into verse 17, where our attitude toward those around us applies not just in the local church but to our community as a whole. That includes the human response of not doing dirt in return, providing things honest in the sight of all men, and being a square dealer rather than taking advantage of others.
