What does the renewed mind in Romans 12:2 actually consist of?
The renewed mind consists of a whole new mind, will, and emotion that God creates within the believer. The personality is totally recreated; Old Adam dies, and God miraculously gives a transformed mind. This is not self-effort, for the believer can do nothing until God performs the miracle of salvation.
Les teaches that the renewed mind is entirely God's work, not our own. He explains that God is the One who causes the metamorphosis, transfiguring a hell-bound sinner into a heaven-bound saint. We cannot do anything; like Israel at the Red Sea, we stand still while God moves in. In salvation, God creates within us a whole new mind, will, and emotion. The personality must be totally recreated. Old Adam, with all its worldly things, must die. In his place, God by a miraculous work gives us that transformed mind.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
