Is Christianity about being out of everything or being a kook?
Christianity is never about being out of everything, a kook, or an oddball. Being holy, as Scripture uses it, simply means set apart. The living sacrifice God seeks is praise from the lips, thanksgiving to His name, and that devotion moves into everyday life rather than removing believers from it.
Les explains that the word holy frightens people because they think it means being “out of everything,” some sort of kook or oddball. He says Christianity is never that. Biblically, holy simply means set apart, as when the vessels in the Temple were declared holy. The living sacrifice of Romans 12 begins with lips speaking praise and thanksgiving to God all day, every day, and it does not stop there; it moves on into other areas of life. Praise and accomplishing things for God work hand in glove, almost automatically.
