How does the Holy Spirit help us understand the Bible?
The Holy Spirit helps by enhancing understanding of the Bible as a person reads and studies it. This understanding is trusted to come through the Spirit as one reads and studies, because Scripture is the most exciting Book on earth. The teaching approach is simply to teach the Book.
Les explains that the method is not to criticize anyone but simply to teach the Book and let the chips fall where they may. He trusts that the Holy Spirit will enhance the reader’s understanding as they read and study, because this Book is the most exciting Book on earth. In the surrounding context, he also notes that Paul wrote by inspiration and that words like “therefore” call the reader back to see what is being referred to.
