What kind of promises are in Hosea 6:1?
Hosea 6:1 contains promises of national restoration: God, who tore and smitten Israel in discipline, will heal and bind them up when they return to Him. They are promises given to the nation through the prophets, assuring that chastisement is not final but will be followed by healing and restoration.
Les explains that these are promises God gave to the nation through the prophets. In Hosea 6:1, the language says, “Come, let us return unto the Lord, for He hath torn, and He will heal us, He hath smitten, He will bind us up.” Les points out that God had torn and smitten them—that is, He had chastised them and exercised discipline on them. But the last words of the verse are “He will bind us up,” showing that the promises are restorative: after discipline, God promises healing and binding up for the nation.
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
