What did God tell Abraham in the Abrahamic Covenant about his offspring?

God told Abraham that He would make of him a great nation, and that his offspring would end up in a land not theirs, enslaved there for 400 years. They would stay out of Canaan because the Canaanites' iniquity was not yet full.

Les explains that in the Abrahamic Covenant, God told Abraham He would make of him a great nation. One of the first prophecies in the Bible is that Abraham's offspring would end up in a land that was not theirs, where they would be in slavery for 400 years, and they would have to stay out of the land of Canaan. The reason was that the iniquity of the Canaanites was not yet full; God gave the Canaanite people 400 years to straighten up their act. Instead they went deeper and deeper into wickedness, and when Joshua came across the Jordan River, God told Joshua and the children of Israel to destroy them and not spare a single one. Les connects this to the Gentile world fast approaching the same place, though God is patient, gracious, and kind tonight, letting man take his own way.
