What happens to believers at the end of the church age?
At the end of the church age, believers who are alive and remain will not die physically; they will be suddenly taken from here to there in a split second to meet the Lord in the air, while dead church-age believers are resurrected first.
Les teaches that this event is the rapture, a Pauline doctrine and mystery not found elsewhere in Scripture. First Corinthians 15:51 calls it a mystery: one group of believers will not die physically but will be alive when everything comes to a culmination. At the end of the church age they will be suddenly from here to there in a split second. Christ will leave glory, come to the atmosphere, the trumpet will sound, the archangel will shout, and all the dead believers of the church age will be raised, resurrected, and go up to meet the Lord in the air. Then those still alive and remain follow in a split second. Les notes this is hard to comprehend, which is why the unbeliever scoffs and why it takes faith to believe.
