What is the spiritual condition of the nation of Israel today?
Today the nation of Israel is for the most part spiritually blind. Some practice religion, whether orthodox or secular, but the nation as a whole did not obtain what it sought because of unbelief and refusal to deal first with the sin problem. A remnant—the elect believers—have come to salvation in the Body of Christ.
Les explains that Israel wanted the King and the Kingdom, but they did not get what they were seeking because in unbelief they would not reckon that they first had to deal with the sin problem. They needed a redeeming Savior, not merely a ruling king, and that is why they did not want Him. They expected a conquering hero on a white steed, but He came into Jerusalem on a donkey, and they rejected and crucified Him—yet not all. For the most part, the nation of Israel did not obtain what they sought, but the election have. The elect are the believers. Some Jews have been elected and have come to salvation; they are the chosen and are in the Body of Christ with the rest of us, but the rest have been blinded. So today the nation of Israel is out there, some practicing their religion, some orthodox, some secular, but for the most part they are spiritually blind.
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
