What did God promise David in 2 Samuel 7 about his royal house?

God promised David that a royal house and family of kings would come from his loins to rule Israel, and through that line would come the King of kings, Christ. His house and kingdom would be established forever, and his throne established forever, with God's mercy not departing as it did from Saul.

Les teaches from 2 Samuel 7 that God promised David that coming from his loins would be a royal house, a royal family of kings who would rule and reign over the little nation of Israel. Through that line of kings would one day come the King of kings, Christ, born of Mary with Joseph as His legal father; both Mary and Joseph come down the royal family bloodlines of David and Solomon. In verses 14 and 15 God says He will be his father and he shall be my son, He will chasten with the rod of men if iniquity comes, but His mercy will not depart from him as it did from Saul. Verse 16 promises that David's house and kingdom shall be established ever before thee, and his throne shall be established forever. Les stresses God cannot lie, and that this royal family continues through history into eternity, bringing forth the King of kings and Lord of lords, who will come to the nation of Israel.
