Why did Paul thrill the heart of God?

He thrilled the heart of God by suffering repeatedly for the sake of the gospel. Through this one little Jew, Christianity swept across the Roman Empire; God had already had him on His mind in Genesis, alongside prophecies of the Messiah.

Les explains that Saul of Tarsus was first a raging bull, a religious zealot who hated Jesus of Nazareth, and in God's eyes Saul was a heartache. But Saul had another side, just as Benjamin's name had two sides. He became Paul, the great apostle, the one who thrilled the heart of God as he suffered, and suffered, and suffered for the sake of the gospel. Because of that one little Jew, Christianity swept across the Roman Empire. Les sees a tremendous lesson: way back in Genesis, God already had the apostle Paul on His mind, along with the prophecies concerning the Messiah. While not taking anything away from the type of Christ in all this, Les says Paul fits beautifully in a lesser role, on a smaller scale. Paul is a Jew, a son of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin, showing God is not through with His covenant people.
