Can an unsaved person understand the deep truths of the Bible?

No. Until a person becomes a believer and a child of God through salvation and faith, the Bible is impossible to comprehend. An unbeliever may grasp stories or miracles, but the deep things of Scripture remain beyond understanding until that person becomes a child of God.

Les explains from 1 Corinthians 2:13-14 that the Bible is utterly impossible for an unsaved person to comprehend. While an unbeliever may read some of the stories and miracles and get something out of them, the basic deep things of Scripture cannot be understood until one becomes a child of God through salvation and faith. He illustrates this with a man who attended his class for three years, whom he did not pressure into conversion, yet who said he just could not understand all this.
