Why won't Israel let Christians or Jewish believers in Christ immigrate?
Israel’s Law of Return keeps out Christians and even Jewish people who profess Christ because the nation remains religiously hidebound, with no room for a Gentile in its so-called religion. That same hostility surfaced when Paul preached salvation through Jesus of Nazareth to Gentiles; many Jewish people fought the Gospel, except a few.
Les explains that after Paul recounted Jesus sending him far hence to the Gentiles, his audience listened with rapt silence until he said the word “Gentile.” Then they lifted their voices and said, “Away with such a fellow from the earth,” declaring it was not fit that he should live. They objected because Paul had dared to use the word Gentile. Paul then went to the Gentile world with salvation based upon that Jew, Jesus of Nazareth—who was a Jew—yet the nation of Israel detested Him. Moses foretold that another nation would come into fellowship with Israel’s God, and Israel would hate them for it. Les points out that this is exactly what Israel did: the more the Gentiles succumbed to the Gospel, the more the Jewish people fought it, except for the few. It is no different today. In Israel’s Law of Return, they try to keep out Christians or even Jewish people who are professed believers in Christ; they won’t let them in. Why? Because religiously they are still hidebound that there is no room for a Gentile in their so-called religion.
