What happens to the stone the builders rejected for those who refuse to believe?

For those who refuse to believe, the rejected stone becomes a stone of stumbling; though Israel cast Christ aside and He appeared discarded, He does not remain so. The day is coming when that same stone will return and take its place as the chief cornerstone of God's dealing with Israel and the world.

The text contrasts those who believe with those who refuse to believe. To believers, Christ is precious; to the disobedient, the stone the builders disallowed is made the head of the corner. Les explains that Israel cast Him aside, like a chief cornerstone thrown into a vacant lot where weeds grew and people stumbled over it. But that stone of stumbling will not stay covered forever. The day is coming when He will take His rightful place as the chief cornerstone of God's dealing with Israel and the whole world. Romans 10:11 then says whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed, with no difference.
