Why doesn't Peter mention repent and be baptized in 1 Peter 2?

Peter does not repeat "repent and be baptized for the remission of sin" in 1 Peter 2 because that message is in his past. Instead, he directs his readers to believe on the chief cornerstone, Christ, so they will not be disappointed. Believing is now the way to attain that position.

Les explains that 1 Peter 2 quotes Scripture about Christ as the chief cornerstone, elect and precious. Peter asks how we attain to the position of not being disappointed—by believing. Les points out that coming out of Acts 2:38, Peter does not repeat "repent and be baptized for the remission of sin" because that is even in Peter's past. Now the emphasis is on believing on the stone, Christ, so that one is not disappointed.

Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1 Peter 2:6

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
