What happened to people who used the vacant lot as a shortcut?

According to the legend, people who used the vacant lot as a shortcut would stumble over the chief cornerstone that the builders had rejected and thrown there. Though it was the stone meant to hold everything together, it lay neglected, causing travelers to trip over it.

Les explains a non-scriptural legend about the building of the first temple. The stones were cut at the quarry, and nothing was hammered at the temple site. The quarry sent in the head cornerstone, the final stone to hold everything together, but it arrived too early. The builders did not know what to do with it, so they threw it off into a vacant lot. Over time weeds grew around it, and people used that vacant lot as a shortcut. As they took the shortcut, they would stumble over the stone that had been misused by the builders. Les calls this a legend, not scriptural, but says it has tremendous meaning and is a perfect picture.
