What was Paul trying to show the Jewish crowd in Jerusalem in Acts 22?

Paul sought to convince the Jewish crowd in Jerusalem that the one they had crucified had sent him to the Gentiles. He rehearsed his Damascus road experience and his temple vision, where Jesus spoke to him, showing that his mission to the Gentiles came from the crucified Jesus.

Les explains that in Acts 22 Paul is addressing a great crowd of Jews after coming back to Jerusalem from his journeys to the Gentiles. Paul is trying to get these Jews to see that the one they crucified was the one who had sent him to the Gentiles. Paul rehearses his tremendous experience on the road to Damascus and then comes down to verses 17 and 18, where, while praying in the temple, he was in a trance and saw Jesus saying unto him. The point is that Paul's mission to the Gentiles was authorized by the very Jesus the Jews had crucified.
