Why did Paul return to Jerusalem in Acts 22?

After his journeys to the Gentiles, Paul came back to Jerusalem to persuade the Jews that the crucified Jesus had sent him to the Gentiles. In Acts 22 he rehearses his Damascus road experience; while praying in the temple, he was in a trance and saw Jesus speaking to him.

Les explains that Paul had been out on his journeys to the Gentiles and then comes back to Jerusalem. His aim was to get these Jews to see that the one they crucified had sent him to the Gentile. In Acts 22, Paul rehearses his tremendous experience on the road to Damascus. Coming to verses 17 and 18, he says that when he came again to Jerusalem, while he prayed in the temple, he was in a trance and saw Jesus speaking to him. Les notes this is Jesus speaking to the Apostle Paul as he is down there in the temple.
