Why couldn't the seven unpardoned men demand to be released too?

The seven could not demand release because they remained guilty murderers deserving death. The pardon given to three was an act of grace, not something owed to all. The other seven had no right to go free, since their sentence was still just, while the three were released undeservedly by the governor’s pardon.

Les teaches that the analogy concerns ten men on death row for almost identical murders. All were found guilty and were awaiting the death sentence. The governor sent down a decree pardoning three of them, and those three were sent home free. The remaining seven had no right to demand release, because they were still guilty murderers who deserved death. The three did not deserve freedom any more than the others; they received it by the grace of the governor. Les uses this to illustrate assurance and rejoicing, saying he is secure in the body of Christ because God chose him.
