What about people who have never heard the gospel—have they received any light from God?

Scripture teaches that the true Light—Jesus Christ—enlightens every man, so even those who have never heard the gospel have received light from God. They possess a certain amount of knowledge. The exact means is not explained, but the book says they have received the light.

Les explains from John 1:7-9 that John the Baptist came to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe. He points out that the true Light, Jesus of Nazareth, lighteth every man. Les acknowledges the difficulty when considering people in the Amazon Valley or other spiritually dark places who have never heard the gospel. He says we cannot comprehend a righteous God sending them to an eternal lake of fire, but the book says over and over that for some reason or other they have received the light. They have a certain amount of knowledge. Les cannot explain it, but that is what the book says.

John 1:9

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
