How many groups of people have there always been from the beginning of human history?

From the beginning of human history, there have always been two primary groups: the lost (the natural, unsaved) and the saved (the spiritual, believers). This division runs through all generations and remains true today; race, wealth, or social status do not change it.

Les explains that from the beginning of human history there have always been primarily two groups of people: the lost, who are by far the greatest number, and the believers, the saved of the ages. He traces this pattern through Scripture’s genealogies—Cain the natural then Abel the spiritual; Isaac the natural then Isaac the spiritual; Esau the natural then Jacob the spiritual—where the natural or non-spiritual comes first, then the spiritual. In Jacob’s life, he is first the natural man Jacob, then becomes the spiritual man Israel. Les applies this to our own experience: we were originally natural, with nothing to do with a spiritual life, but after being born into the family of God and experiencing salvation, we are spiritual, citizens of heaven, totally different people. He then says the history of the nation of Israel is divided into the same two categories: those who remain in the natural, never having spiritual enlightenment even though under the covenants, and the spiritual. So it is no different today—we are either the saved element or the unsaved. It does not matter whether black or white, rich or poor, bond or free; we are either in the lost, natural element or in the spiritual.
