Was Jacob's wrestling match where he got saved?
Yes. Jacob's wrestling match was the point of his true salvation, where he experienced what is today called the new birth. God saw his faith, transformed him, and gave him a new name, Israel, meaning prince with God.
Les teaches that Jacob's wrestling match was Jacob's true salvation. Jacob understood who he was wrestling with and said, "I will not let you go until you bless me." The Lord asked his name, and he said, "Jacob." Then God changed his name to Israel, saying, "For as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and ye have prevailed." Les explains that God saw the faith in Jacob, and by it He transformed him. This is where Jacob experienced what today is called the new birth. Since he was now a new man in God, in Christ, even back there, God gave him a new name. He would no longer be called Jacob the deceiver, which was the natural, but Israel the prince with God. Les also reminds us of the rule of thumb that first comes the natural, then the spiritual, as with Cain the natural and Abel the spiritual.
And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
